Head of Strategic Marketing & Big Data VIASAT GROUP
Mario Bellotti was born on 19 January 1965 in Naples, and is married with three children. He is a fan of motorsports and sailing, and was a professional co-driver in rallies for more than 16 years, winning two Italian rally championships and several competitions.
Mr. Bellotti obtained a degree in Information Science at the University of Salerno in 1988. He began his professional career specializing in Aerospace, gaining considerable experience abroad. He worked for international companies and organizations such as Matra Marconi Space, the European Space Agency, and the European Space Research and Technology Centre.
TIM hired Mr. Bellotti in 1998 (TIM later became Telecom Italia). He worked in different departments with increasing responsibilities in VAS, Marketing and Sales both at headquarters and at the regional offices.
While working for TIM Mr. Bellottis professional activities always were linked to the automotive segment. He took part in the architectural definition of LBS for business customers, in the commercial launch of the TIM info in viaggio 892525 service in partnership with Infoblu, and in the ConnectTIM service developed for FIAT/Targa Service. He managed the relationship with Way Srl within the framework of the TIM Application Partner program. Mr. Bellotti also was responsible for mobile offerings for OctoTelematics and for the commercial partnership with Genertel and Cobra Telematics, aiming to develop co-marketing initiatives and to define services based on black box in the insurance telematics. He managed the partnership with Cobra Telematics, Viasat, Infoblu, UnipolSai within the 2014 and 2015 Big Data Challenge framework, and the hackathon held during the 2015 ITS World Congress.
The last three years he has been working with major automotive players in order to develop commercial initiatives based on Big Data Mobility Services.
Recently he was responsible for the acquisition program of Way and Infomobility.
Mr. Bellotti represented Telecom Italia with government institutions (e.g. MISE & MIT) to define competition rules about DDL Concorrenza for the insurance market and e-call services. He has been vice-president of Telematics Service Provider (TSP-A), an association comprising the most important players in the telematics market such as Vodafone Automotive, Viasat, Way, Lojack, Generali Car and Multiprotexion, and of which Telecom Italia has been an associate since 2014. He represented Telecom Italia in Confindustria Digitale steering committee in the Innovation, Start-up e-Smart Communities working group.
Mr. Bellotti has been working for Viasat group since September 2016, having the role of head of strategic marketing & Big Data. The objective of his task is to define new services and new markets for the group both in Italy and abroad, taking into account also the service integration between the sister companies, with a focus on the development of the Big Data business. He represents Viasat Group in the BoD of Helian, and, as advisor, in the BoD for Beepooler.
